Opportunities for Study, Teaching and Research Abroad

UB seeks to internationalize the work of faculty and students through high-impact academic and scholarly experiences abroad. Our faculty increasingly engage in international research and teaching, while growing numbers of our students go abroad for study, research and service.

Study Abroad

UB offers study abroad opportunities in 30 countries for undergraduate, graduate and professional students. A summer architecture program takes place in the parks, cafés and museums of Barcelona, while a yearlong language program in Kobe, Japan, immerses participants in Japanese language and culture.

UB students also can access more than 550 other SUNY study abroad programs. Thirteen percent of UB students study abroad—well above the national average—and we have exchange programs with more than 75 universities around the world.

Fulbright Program

The Fulbright Program, the U.S. government’s premier international exchange program, sends American students, scholars, professionals and artists abroad to lecture and conduct research.

At UB, staff and online resources guide our students and faculty members through the application process for the Fulbright Program, which seeks to foster mutual understanding among nations through educational and cultural exchanges.

Degree Programs Abroad

UB collaborates with institutions in Asia to deliver degree programs to undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

The UB School of Management is a pioneer in the development of MBA programs in Asia, beginning with the first such program in China in 1984. The school is a well-established brand in Asia, partnering with the Singapore Institute of Management and India’s Amrita University on degree programs for undergraduate, graduate and professional students.

UB established its partnership with SIM in 1996 with the launch of UB’s Executive MBA at SIM. Since then, cooperation has expanded to include UB undergraduate degree programs at SIM in business administration, communications, economics, psychology and sociology that collectively enroll more than 1,400 students.

UB partners with the Center for American Education in Singapore to deliver a master’s of education program in school counseling. The program, specially tailored for the needs of Singapore schools, is built on a well-established model of counseling developed by the American School Counselor Association.
